Appendicitis. After 30 hours in the hospital, Ahbba’s finally back home. At one point during his stay, he became emotional. He told me to take good care of Uhmma, “she’s my one love.” Then he told me how much he loved Quincey, “I will miss him most.” My God, I love this man so much. He is doing well and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Weekend eats. Vegan bulgogi ssam, so good. Uhmma agrees this is better than the real thing (TJ vegan bulgogi ftw). She’s always enjoyed vegan food but we’re savoring more vegan meals together since her doctor at Memorial Sloan Kettering has encouraged her to follow a vegan diet since her Smoldering Myeloma diagnosis. Vanilla soft serve from Marvel and ube mochi for dessert hit the spot. Also, look how fresh and clean Q is. Highly recommend Bark and Bath in Astoria — low and spacious washing station so Q doesn’t fight us nearly as much and the folks who run the place are the kindest.

Hanky Panky Friday makes a rare guest appearance. It’s been a while (8 years!) but apparently I still know how to do a proper vegan food crawl. Black sesame soft serve with tahini caramel (this was bomb), not dog, and mochi cookies (Koke), Filet o’ fu and crazy good taro donuts (Mommy Pai’s), Kolkata chai (finally a spot without honey!) and a cherry espresso donut (Cloud Donuts). We received some really encouraging news yesterday at our visit at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Uhmma’s numbers remain stable which is wonderful so instead of returning in three months as originally planned, her doctor said he’ll see her again in six months. Ahbba also received positive news. In this round of blood work, they did not see any abnormal plasma cells which had been seen previously by another oncologist, but to be safe he’ll return in six months for another check.

I’m so relieved and overwhelmingly grateful and deeply touched by all of your love and support. Thank you thank you.
