Two Nevada Alumni are joining forces to Raise Funds for Starbuck's Drive-In.

Award-winning songwriter Chris Patterson will bring his band , Great Caesar’s Goat to the Nevada Bandshell on Tuesday 8/11/26 at 8pm. Patterson will be joined by Danny Grause, another Nevada alumni and award winning musician. Patterson has spent more than two decades crafting honest, road-tested Americana rooted in rock, country, and folk traditions. As the founder of Leaving, TX, he earned two Top 10 albums on the Americana Music Charts and has performed at SXSW, the Americana Music Festival, and Nashville’s famed Bluebird Cafe. Today, Patterson fronts Great Caesar’s Goat, delivering “Original Americana From the Heartland” with powerful songwriting, memorable storytelling, and high-energy performances.

Danny Grause is an Iowa Songwriter, performer and guitarist known for his tasteful playing, versatility, and instinct for serving the song above all else. Equally at home delivering soaring electric leads or subtle acoustic textures, Grause has become a sought-after collaborator throughout the Midwest music scene. His influences span classic rock, Americana, blues, and country, creating a style that is both expressive and deeply rooted.

We are deeply saddened to learn we lost a member of the Starbuck's work family. With permission from his family, we regret to tell you that Colton Smith of Nevada passed away this week. He started with Starbuck's Drive-In at the beginning of this season and had already proven himself to be a valuable member of the team. He often offered to help his coworkers and leadership. Many of us considered him a true friend. We give our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. He will truly be missed by many. Rest easy Colton and Godspeed to you.

If you can volunteer to make a difference in our community, please do. Volunteers make the difference between life and death every single day. True heroes!

NOW YOU CAN HELP US- FROM THE FIRE CHIEF'S DESK

A fire at 5pm gets a different level of volunteers compared to a fire at 9am. Most of our 42 members work full-time jobs. Times have changed when every employer knew the local volunteer firefighter working for them dropped what they were doing when the town siren blew. The decline of the volunteer spirit happened when towns across this country stopped sounding the siren during calls. It was thought to be too disruptive to the community. It quickly desensitized the public to the frequencies of emergencies in their community.

We are not asking for a stampede to city hall demanding the town siren come back, but we do need you. Becoming a volunteer firefighter saves cities considerable funding that can be used for the fire department, library, parks, and police services. Career firefighters are a full-time salary that does offer staffing advantages during an emergency. However, our fire department's 166 year history has relied on mostly volunteer members. It takes people to make a volunteer service competent and highly trained.

This picture captures most what I love about our people. They stop what they are doing at home, at work when permitted, at a kids sporting event, or birthday party. Just so 5 minutes later they can make a critical potentially life ending decision to make things better during someone else's bad day. And they make this decision without any thought at all. Seeing selfless service captured on display epitomizes why it is so important to help your community.

Seeing the outpouring at the loss of a staple iconic memory reminds us all what if there were no one willing to volunteer?
