Hello Friends! We are in the full swing of summer ☀️ and, as usual, find ourselves to be very busy! Our crew is enjoying a well-deserved beautiful day off today. We’ll be open for 3 remaining Mondays this summer: 8/10, 8/17, and 8/31.
Usually we wait until after Labor Day to make a sappy gratitude post 😂 but our staff deserves some serious recognition right now, while we’re in the thick of it! It’s been a hot, hectic summer, and our small (but mighty!) team has been delivering every. single. night. We work a slew of six day weeks in the summer to accommodate the increased demand, and that’s no small task, particularly for our kitchen crew. We have the same core kitchen folks working every night, and their dedication is nothing short of inspiring. With the added prep work and time required this year for our Patio service and record numbers of meals being served, they’ve been troopers and gosh, we’re ever so grateful. 🥹
Our front of the house staff knocks it out of the park every single time, too; there’s a reason our attentive service gets rave reviews as much as our food does 😉 Our hosts, bussers, and servers are the best of the best. How lucky are we to have them on our team?! The Team. The Team. THE TEAM. And YOU are, of course, part of our team’s success, as well — thank you to our amazing customers for all of your support, year after year. What a blessing it is to be busy and to serve our wonderful community - both locals and visitors alike. We’re honored to be your “favorite place.” Thanks for being our favorite people. 💜
An additional note to our guests regarding reservations: some days, there are HUNDREDS of calls and text messages and back and forth interactions to secure and modify reservations. We are so appreciative of your patience and kindness, as we truly do our very best to return every message and to accommodate every request. It really is a blessing to be this busy and have such a demand! We also feel fortunate that the vast majority of conversations we have with guests are very pleasant; everyone, for the most part, is incredibly kind, even when we cannot offer them a reservation. We truly wish we could offer a table to everyone who calls!
Please know: we do not “hold tables back.” With the exception of our bar high tops, all of our tables are bookable online. We don’t have a secret table in the back corner, or a magical table that we can pull down from the ceiling (although that would be cool, huh?!). When we are fully committed, every seat is filled. When it shows no availability online, 99% of the time, that IS the case! It’s always worth leaving your information for our cancellation list and signing up for notifications from OpenTable. Sometimes we can make it happen! However, sometimes, as much as we wish we could, we just can’t.
Furthermore, we hope that everyone can appreciate our hope for Funistrada as a place of inclusivity. It makes no difference to us who you are, where you’re from, or how many years you’ve been coming here. We want EVERYBODY to have access to dine with us, whether you’re a permanent resident or a summer regular or visiting for the very first time! We opened our summer reservations online months ago in order to help making bookings easier, and we religiously work our cancellation list to help serve everyone who wants to join us. Again, it doesn’t matter to us who your family is or where you pay your taxes. Funi is for everyone. 💜 Thank you!
