Today on Flag Day, under a beautiful blue North Shore sky, we had the honor of dedicating our new 25-foot flagpole and raising a 5' x 8' American flag on the front lawn of Cascade Lodge.

As part of our ongoing exterior renewal project, and as we prepare to celebrate Cascade Lodge’s 100-year anniversary in 2027, this flagpole felt like a meaningful addition to this historic place.

A heartfelt thank you to American Legion Post #413 Grand Marais for joining us and helping honor the flag with the dignity and respect it deserves. We are especially grateful to Rodney Carlson, Post Commander; Rich Palmer, Treasurer; Bob Mattson, Vice-Commander; and Sue Westerlind, Adjutant.

Thank you also to Breanne Marie of Duluth for her beautiful performance of the National Anthem, and to our family, staff, local residents, and friends who gathered with us for this special moment.

May this flag always remind us of service, sacrifice, freedom, responsibility, and gratitude.
