God created us all equal❤️

It has taken me all morning to write this because my heart is heavy! What should have been an easy celebratory post turned into a heart broken reminder of the hate that continues to lurk.
This morning, I came across something in my news feed from Gilmer Mirror that reminded me, even in 2026, we still have A LOT of work to do when it comes to loving one another and treating each other with dignity. The article and the comment section proved as much.
Today, June 19th, marks a significant day in our nation's history. It commemorates June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved people in Texas learned they were free. More than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued! (There is an entire history lesson on this that I posted on my personal page earlier this week) It is a day that reminds us of both the pain of our past and the progress that can be made when freedom, justice, and human dignity prevail. ❤️💛💚🖤
Rather than focusing on division, I choose to focus on what this day represents: the end of one of the darkest chapters in American history and the recognition that every human being is created by God with value, worth, and purpose.
Change will not happen in silence.
Change will not happen through hatred.
Change happens when we choose love, compassion, understanding, and respect for one another.
Today, let us honor those who endured unimaginable hardship. Let us remember the lessons of history. And let us commit ourselves to building a future where love is stronger than hate and where we see one another first and foremost as members of the human race.
Choose love. Choose unity. Choose humanity.🖤🤍🤎
