There are some people whose absence changes the shape of your whole world.

Alexis was that person for us.

He was laughter, love, family, memories, and a presence that can never be replaced. We miss his smile. We miss his voice. We miss the moments we thought we would have more time to share.

On October 6th, we will gather not only because we lost him, but because we were blessed to have loved him.

We will tell the stories. We will laugh through tears. We will hold one another a little tighter. And we will celebrate the beautiful life Alexis gave us — a life that continues in every memory, every story, and every person who carries him in their heart.

Somewhere between the heartbreak and the gratitude, we are learning that love does not end when someone leaves us. It simply finds a different way to stay.

Some news is difficult to share, and some news is humbling to receive.

As our family mourns the loss of our beloved son, Alexis, we have also learned that Posada Alta Cocina has once again been honored with Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence for 2026.

While this recognition means so much to us, our hearts remain with Alexis. We will continue to pour our hearts into Posada, carrying his love and memory with us in everything we do.

This award celebrates excellence in wine, but our greatest blessing has always been the community that gathers around our table.

To our incredible team, our loyal guests, and everyone who has lifted us up with prayers, kindness, and compassion-thank you. Your support has meant more than words can express.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us, praying for us, and surrounding our family with so much love during this unimaginable time. Your compassion, kindness, and support have carried us through some of our darkest moments and reminded us that we are not alone in our grief.

Alexis was deeply loved, and through each of you, we are reminded that his beautiful spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though our hearts are broken and forever changed, we find comfort in knowing how many lives he touched, and for that we will be eternally grateful.

The photo above was taken during our last time together as a family in El Paso, Texas, in late April. Looking back at this moment fills us with both immense gratitude and unimaginable sadness. It was a day filled with laughter, love, and memories we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Yesterday, on what became both Alexis's 43rd birthday and the day we said goodbye, he passed away in the early morning hours. Our hearts are shattered, and we are still struggling to comprehend this unimaginable loss.

There are no words that can truly express the depth of our grief or the pain our family is feeling as we try to process this devastating loss. We ask that you keep Alexis in your thoughts and prayers today and in the days ahead. 🙏❤️

Alexis loved deeply. He loved his family, his friends, and everyone fortunate enough to know him. He cherished gathering around the table, hearing laughter fill the room, sharing stories, cracking jokes, and wrapping us all in those unforgettable bear hugs that made everything feel okay.

Family meant everything to him.

As we move forward, we hope that every June 18th will be a day to remember the beautiful parts of Alexis—the way he made us laugh, his quick wit, his generous heart, his giant hugs, and the love he gave so freely to everyone around him. Those memories are the treasures we hold closest now.

In the coming weeks, we will share details for a Celebration of Life where we can honor Alexis together. For now, we are carrying an unimaginable sorrow and learning how to navigate a world without him in it.

We are grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support. Please continue to keep Alexis and our family in your hearts.
