This past week has been a blur, kinda miserable and especially damp but for bustin ass this past week we managed to put away 70+ birds, haul hogs to Mt. Vernon and the shack is RENTABLE beginning June 3rd! 🥳 (Those E bikes better be here tomorrow Fed EX)

I knew this past week was gonna be a grind and when I've really got to dig my heels in I always think about my mom & dad, both of which could out work me on any given day. Sometimes you don't know the lessons you've learned till you're living them & I thank those two for showing me what it takes to get something done! 💪

Update on the chickens:
In case those who ordered the chicken are wondering, I'm waiting for a break in the rain to plan a pick up. Possibly Sunday afternoon.
It's absolutely soggy here at the farm and I know the creeks are up; I also don't like handling and loading up your meat when it's pouring down so I'm watching and waiting. 🤞

The pre ordered chickens are all processed but won't be ready for pick up till frozen solid, probably a couple days. I will get with everyone to schedule a pick up time in Leslie at the old Pottery shop on Main or if you have a lot I may just bring them to you!
Be prepared to bring cooler or strong bags. These are big bids, 6-8lbs.

I will message everyone a total before hand and will be able to accept cash, venmo or cash app.

If you decide you don't want the chicken after all or fewer just let me know, it's not a big deal.

The shack still looks shack like but in a couple weeks I'm busting that thing out to the universe ☄️
Gonna give it a pull out cabinet under the stove top and w**d eat some more, then slam a couple window units in it because I can't justify having a new $6k AC in a $20k hut. 🤷
I got down to the nitty gritty on it and had to piece mill some ottomans & fake shutters together from scrap lying around because I felt like I was bleeding money...I kinda like them actually and I'm glad I didn't buy them.
I always feel that if everything is new in a space I might as well just go sleep at the hobby lobby, so there's a pretty mix in this 700sqft. New, used, falling apart old, torn out atlas pages, some stuff I made and some stuff I found at the dump...ha!

I've got an idea about staffing the Consignment/Variety Shop & the Pottery Shop but I wanted to throw it out there and see if people would be interested.

Keeping/Finding staff is a consistently horrible experience...I think everywhere. I'll say right out that I'm not good at it, I'm not boss material & I grit my teeth even having to think about it, however if I'm gonna dip my toes this deep between these little businesses I'll have to bite the bullet.

That being said I am interested in offering shifts as gig work to a select number of people. I think both Amazon warehouses and Spark with Walmart do this.

This will accomplish a few things (I hope):
Highly Flexible for Folks schedule
Only people interested in being at work will be there
Fewer Staff Shortages, hopefully none.

I believe there is an app for this kinda thing to make it "seamless". Or at the rate the world is going galactic fast toward "Terminator Mode" I may put this on a chalk board out of spite.

Are there people around who would like to try this type of work where they select their own work shifts?
Obviously this would be a very part time job but not so many in the staff pool that shifts are never available. (I would have to feel this out carefully, and get out the kinks)

This is just a preliminary idea, I've been tossing around but if theress interest in this concept let me know.

Peas! Don't even really like the things but they're some of the first veggies to ripen without any fuss...so I'll throw them in stir fry!
Looks like beans are coming in right behind them and the tomatoes are as big as golf balls!!

When I decided to give this little consignment shop a go in the former Oak & Main space, I never would have imagined negative reactions; however there have been a few and oddly, What's Happening in Searcy County group has removed my post.

Anyways I didn't have any big nefarious plans behind the shop. I decided to try the idea for two reasons. One a multitude of people could participate & perhaps earn a little money and two, my inventory costs would be lowered. I'll admit it's not altruistic, though I was hoping the idea would be mutually beneficial.

Anyways please share if you are ok with the idea of a nice clothing consignment and antiques/vintage store in Leslie.

Jeepin’ it Classy this Saturday in Leslie, Arkansas & I'll be cruising an old ram charger down. Sounds like a tractor but the fuel mileage is fantastic; I think Matthew stuck a 12 valve Cummins in this 90's model. Come down Saturday to take a look at this work in progress & then go get you one started...your wife will love it. 👍🤪
