A bakers diary about
š„š„BURNOUTš„š„
Yes itās a real thing. Yes it happens more than I care to admit. There are several times during the year I have to take a step backā¦. Refocusā¦. Replan and even take a few side roads to get back on track.
Today was one of those days. Today I needed to do something that took me back to the beginning. To what started everything. To my WHY.
Baking has always been therapeutic to me. Many of you know Iāve always been a night owl and I do my best baking at night. Itās just me, my kitchen and my thoughts.
When you start doing things for the public- you get asked to do things you never intended on doing. You are āexpectedā to keep certain products on hand at all time. You are known for a product and if itās not available then you have upset customers. Then you slowly gravitate away from the things you love to the things that are popular or the fad. Itās one crazy cycle.
I want yall to know- I LOVE WHAT I DO! Every- single- day. I love what I do. But some days I just need to step back in time and remember where the passion came from. It came from days upon days with my Nana in the kitchen. Watching Papa cook breakfast on the weekends. Helping my Aunt Debbie make a bigger mess in the kitchen than what we got in the baking pan 𤣠licking the bowls at Thanksgiving with Lynn, my moms secret sugar cookie recipe at Christmas and Dads famous potato candy that can only be made by hand. It was those moments that made me LOVE being in the kitchen and baking things.
So today I baked what I wanted. I baked my favorite cookie recipes. The one recipe that started it all (white chocolate chip) and the recipes that continue to be favorites in the shop.
So tomorrow (Wednesday) I need yall to come enjoy these cookies. Share them with your family, your friends, your loved ones. Because thatās why I make them.
We will have $5.00 per dozen cookies while supplies last. I wonāt be making more- because Iām working on other things I love tomorrow.
