When you travel, the locals know the best. It's not that bad to get out of your comfort zone. When your taxi driver & a local Porto person, tells you to try the local food, Francesinha Sandwich, you try it. We stopped by a busy Casa Guedes restaurant in the Riverfront.
- Francesinha had roasted pork, sausage, ham, melted gouda cheese, fried egg on top & Francesinha sauce. It was succulent, very flavorful, rich & filling to climb
the stairs & walk the Douro River Riverfront.
- Batatas had French fries with melted cheese, crispy bacon & Francesinha sauce. It was hearty & super rico. Yummm..

At the Time Out Market in Lisbon, we found the acclaimed Michelin Star rated Oven Indian & Nepali Restaurant food hall owned by a Nepali Restauranteur. There were 3 Nepali cooks working there from Myagdi & Syangjha. How can you say no to momos & chicken chilli? It's in our blood. Hearing the Nepali cooks stories is a story of migration, better opportunities, &, plain hard work.

When you travel, ask a local - we happened to walk into a bodega in the Moorish neighborhood of Lisbon to get some water & there were 2 Nepalese young women working there. We chatted with them & asked them about places to eat. They told us to go ChiChi Papa Nepali Restaurant which happened to right by the Tram 28 stop... 😀 what a coincidence!!! After a long day of walking in the warm sun, having some chicken momos, pork choyala & a cold b**r was just what the Dr ordered. It hit the spot. Oh man! the food reminded me of home, memories flooded, taste buds fired up & I was back in the gullies of Kathmandu!! Our server was from Lalitpur, Nepal was extremely polite, helpful, gracious, just an awesome genuine bahini (she even charged my back up battery pack), an innocence that is much lost nowadays. Thank you! 🙏🏾🙏🏾
