March 8th, Międzynarodowy Dzień Kobiet (International Women's Day)

In Poland, Women’s Day began to celebrate after the World War II. It is customary for men on that day to hand out gifts to their women. During the communist era, women in a workplace were receiving wishes, gifts (tights, soap, coffee) and a single tulip or carnation from their male coworkers. In recent years women take opportunity to use this “holiday” as a time of discussion on the rights, needs and problems of women.
