The amount of gratitude that I express in writing this cannot be emphasized enough. All of you allowed us to build a business on hard work, playfulness, hospitality and risk taking. We had the pleasure of getting to know you, your story and vice versa. You continually shared The Lunch Box experience with others that make up your world. You brought in your parents, your children, even grandma and grandpa. To be a witness to all of this, the experience crossing laterally among friendships and generations, it is something that I never imagined when opening this business but it’s wonderful.
When we started, I just had an “itch” to get something off the ground and give it a go, so I did. I wanted a business that would challenge me and allow me to be of service to others, and it has for close to three years. Ultimately, my one goal was and still is to create a hospitality company that provides product innovation and customized services that stands the test of time. For now though, we must say farewell to our location here in the University District and to the glorious union of Wieners & Waffles. We are going to take some time to regroup and search out the correct pathways that will continue to help us grow. We are still keeping our catering division operating, so box lunches for meetings, ice cream wafflewich parties and other options can still be had. We will start the re-branding process as necessary in a short time and when all pieces of the puzzle come together down the road, the goal is to get back into a brick and mortar space. There is nothing more than I want than to be able to continue on this journey and push it, so I will because I know we can do better.
Our final day here at the shop will be Tuesday, November 20th. Please come and help us celebrate the experience that you have created one last time!
At your service,
Jo
