Another cherished tradition of Chiang Mai is the “Inthakhin City Pillar Worship Ceremony” held at Wat Chedi Luang in the heart of the old city.
Locals believe that the Inthakhin pillar the city’s spiritual anchor is home to a guardian deity that protects Chiang Mai.
People gather to offer flowers in beautifully arranged bowls, known as “Khan Dok,” to invite good fortune and blessings for themselves and their families.
This year, the ceremony will take place from May 23rd to 30th, 2025.

Scenes from the “Doi Suthep Pilgrimage 2025”
One of Chiang Mai’s most cherished traditions, the annual pilgrimage to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is a powerful reflection of local faith and cultural heritage.
This year’s event took place on May 10 - 11, 2025, with thousands joining the walk up the sacred mountain.
