The Green Parrot June events
June is here, school is out, the crowds thin, time slows down, and we want you to treat our little corner of paradise as your adult summer camp (but no sleep-overs, please) as we submit for your approval one steamy month of great music and bona-fide cultural activities.
Starting out the monthโs weekends strong with Suรฉnalo, the Miami-based, 8-piece Afro-Latin-funk-jam band, widely regarded as pioneers of the Miami fusion-music scene explodes back onto the Parrot stage for six sets of their multicultural cocktail.
Next up, Ajeva, the funk rock band from St. Pete, brings their electrifying mix back to Parrot patrons for a weekend of powerful grooves with feel-good vibes.
The following weekend, long a Parrot favorite for her ferocious slide guitar runs, the Brooklyn-born, Chicago-schooled blues diva Joanna Connor returns to our corner backed by her aptly-named Wrecking Crew.
The month wraps up with some steamy Texas blues, as Eric Culberson makes his annual trek down the southeast coast with his Savannah-based quartet.
As always, letโs save some props as well for our local musicians, those who continue to inspire us daily, through the doldrums of summer, with their talent, their passion and their goodwill.
How could you possibly go wrong when you feature local talent like The Marshall Morlock Band, Reggae Lou & The Kind Budz, Lance Taylor And The Accidentals, Tony Baltimore and The Wilde Awake, Disco Nap, Cayo Ritmo, Kim Jade And The Good Thing, and Mark King Band, and a special Sunday Soundcheck from award-winning British guitar-slinger Matt Backer.
Then thereโs the steamy Sunday afternoons where youโre invited to cool off under the parachute and enjoy matinee shows from locals Mike Emerson Jazz Quartet, Sunshine Sisters (Claire and Kari), Cayman & Company, and Jefff Clark and Andy Santeiro.
And culture-seekers, thereโs the white-hot action of Green Parrot 100%-for-charity Monday Night Bingo, and of course, Ukulele Night, held on the 24th this month for our 15th anniversary!
So wake up and smell the popcorn, great music and spine-tingling cocktails live here on the corner of Franklin and Einstein, and itโs all waiting right here for you, along with pool, darts, and pinball, and our legendary jukebox, all for the price of a beer and a smile.
The Green Parrot Bar, Your Southernmost Center for Culture of All Kinds, while not for the cultural elite, certainly for the culturally deprived.
