Thank you to Senator Alvarado for this recognition and KVGC for telling this story but most importantly thank you to the continued support we have received from our Jackson community since 1921.
A longtime Jackson restaurant is receiving statewide recognition for its contributions to the community and local economy. State Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil will present the Senator’s Choice Award to Teresa's Place during the California Small Business Development Center’s statewide awards ceremony this evening at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento. The iconic Italian restaurant was selected as the Senate District 4 recipient for its decades of service, community involvement, and economic impact. Members of the Giurlani family, owners of Teresa’s Place, say their family has spent more than 100 years focused on hospitality and quality food. In a statement, the family said they live by the motto “Sempre avanti,” meaning “always forward,” and are honored to receive the recognition from Senator Alvarado-Gil. The Senator’s Choice Award program launched in late 2024 and highlights exceptional small businesses throughout Senate District 4 each month. During Small Business Month, one business from every California Senate and Assembly district is recognized statewide by the California Small Business Development Center. Senator Alvarado-Gil praised Teresa’s Place for serving authentic homemade Italian cuisine since 1921 and for remaining a beloved gathering place and multigenerational tradition in Jackson. She also encouraged residents to continue supporting local businesses, calling them the heartbeat of their communities.
