We have an important announcement to share. Please take a moment to read the message below from the owner of Jackson Coffee Co (J-Co).

The Jackson Coffee Co was created by the Surgener family 20 years ago. It has been an iconic brand to three generations of families. The customers we served when we opened up had young children. We have been blessed to witness those children bring in their children, and some of those bringing in their children.

We opened J-Co when nobody thought downtown Jackson was worth investing in. We saw the potential and helped kick off a resurgence on South Mechanic. Look at what downtown has now become due to others who also invested into the downtown and took a chance.

To all who have considered J-Co their home away from home—a place for gatherings, meeting with friends, celebrations, a first date, or simply a familiar spot to find friends—we extend our deepest gratitude for your loyalty and support. Serving you has been an honor, and we will never miss the daily connections that have meant so much to us.

For two decades, J-Co has been the setting for countless meaningful moments: first jobs, first lattes, family gatherings, music nights, last goodbyes, and even meeting future spouses. This place holds a special significance not only for our patrons and this community, but for our family and staff as well.

What we are especially proud of over the past 20 years, is our giving back to the Jackson community. We have tried to always be a part of your fundraisers, organizations, and benefits. We have always had a policy of never saying no when you needed a donation.

We wish the very best to everyone we have met along the way. Your presence, patronage, and friendship have shaped us and this establishment in immeasurable ways. We sincerely thank you.

This Saturday, tomorrow, marks 20 years of being in business. After 20 years of serving the Jackson community, it is with great appreciation for our customers, employees, and the broader community that we announce the not so difficult decision, with your continued support, that we plan to stay open for another 20 years. We cannot predict anything beyond 2046 at this time.

To kick off our next 20 years we ask that you join us tomorrow, September 12, 2026 for a big celebration. Register to win FREE coffee for an entire year. We will be awarding 20 lucky customers with free drinks for an entire year. Yes, an entire year.

We will have some games that you can play outside, and we're giving away 200 cupcakes. We will also have chances to win gift cards, free drinks and J-Co items. We will have our staff there to mingle, and the owner will be there too. It's going to be something and we would like you there.

Stop by to win great stuff. Or stop just to say hello or to tell us a special memory you had at Jackson Coffee Co.

Well, the storm on Sunday night did a number on our sign. Mackenzie came in Monday morning to open up the store and found the sign blow apart. Emma found the sign inserts down the block and brought them back to the store.

Our corner sign has been on our building for over 80 years. For those who don't know, J-Co's building is over 150 years old. Almost as old as the owner. 🤣

We called Johnson Sign Co., and they came out that morning and assessed the damage. We thought for sure this was going to be a big bill for a new sign. Upon inspecting they said that they could rebuild it and keep the existing sign because the inserts were still usable. While they could have upsold us a new sign, they cut corners and put the old back together. They assembled it, put in a new ballast, new bulbs, new sockets, and now we have a sign that will last our next 20 years.

That sign has been a symbol of Jackson Coffee Co for 20 years. We are so glad it was salvageable. We were not sure the city would authorize a new one if we had to replace it. (They do own the sidewalk, and one has to get permission, but they have been good to work with in our time downtown).

A big thank you to Johnson Sign Co. for being quick to act and for helping us save a piece of our history.
