Hello everyone!

It’s your friendly neighborhood coffee shop owner/ghost who never does anything but live at the new shop in Spring Grove we’re opening and renovate! Things are going well but I’m very tired and my body is aching a good bit more than usual in the mornings!

I went back and forth about whether to write this because I don’t want it to come across the wrong way. But eventually it happened such a ridiculous amount of times I was like, “it’s time” 😂

I’m going to please ask that anyone who sees this refrains from visiting us on site at the new shop trying to sell us something. Listen, I get it - sales is a hustle. But to be really honest, if you try to schedule an impromptu meeting while I’m trying to paint with a sprayer and you keep chatting even after I’ve told you it’s not a great time…

There’s a good chance you’re getting mentally added to a list in my head titled “people I don’t want to do business with” 🫣😬

One gentleman stopped by a second time and I think finally realized we weren’t lying to him the first time when we said we literally do all the work ourselves and we have 4 months to get it wrapped up before rent starts coming due.

So please send an email and know that it may be awhile until I am able to get back to you unless it’s an emergency. We’re in the trenches over here 😂

(And honestly, there’s a good chance I don’t have an answer to your question/I’m not the right person to ask anyway - feel free to hit up [email protected] and maybe someone more helpful than me can provide assistance).

Also I just want to say thank you for your continual support: every time we open a new shop, I go somewhat MIA on social media and via email and even in real life because of the immense amount of work it takes us. What would ordinarily be a crew of guys ends up usually being just jason and I, four days a week, for months on end. This time around we’ll have some more help but it’s also the tightest timeline we’ve ever had to get a shop open 😬😬

So if you see fewer posts on here than usual or less info about our current specials, just know you can always ask your favorite baristas and they’ll also get you hooked up. While I burrow away as construction worker for the next few months, just know we’re still here and doing our thing and we love y’all!

Just about 2,000 screws later 🫠😮‍💨

We’re really trying to outdo ourselves with every new shop both practically (speed, efficiency) AND aesthetically. I am a little bit obnoxious about the look of things and as we get a little more money with each shop, I can make things more and more like I always hoped they’d be.

I am, of course, proud of how awesome we’ve made the first few shops look. And I think our lack of money made us more creative for sure. But… it’s nice to be able to afford to do things right the first time around 😅

Spring Grove, we’re very excited to join the community and we’re feeling the love already. We’re really hoping to open in September, but we’ll see how it all plays out 🫶🫶

ATTENTION EVERYONE I HAVE SOME VERY IMPORTANT THOUGHTS

1.) big ups to my guy across me at the gas station who didn’t make fun of me for having a giant chocolate chip on my chin from the little snack I was having on the ride home. Thanks for letting me be me 👊

2.) double thanks to that same guy for not making fun of me for watching part of my survivor episode while my gas was pumping. I needed to know who was voted out at tribal!!!

3.) thinking about doing a punk-in spice latte theme this year Where we play punk rock music and I buy one of those pumpkin cantilevers/launchers and let people duel each other in the parking lot. Thoughts?

4.) I’m officially at the age where the Jarritos bottles on the end cap at Lowe’s are targeted at me… and also the age where that move is successful

5.) I’m working faster and smarter than ever before on this shop renovation and I still can’t help but feel like it’s one of the last ones I’ll actually renovate myself. I know I’m a broken record with that, but it really is inevitable

6.) the Britton Coffee community is the coolest. Every time someone sees me out and about and says hi, I’m blown away by how kind and normal y’all are. And in today’s age, that’s not always the default. (Thanks Sabrina, sorry I was so out of it last night 🤣🤣 … I was getting emergency milkshakes because I was SO TIRED AND, shoutout )

7.) our bakery team is making me put on some extra lbs and it’s entirely their fault and I blame them. Look at this mountain of goodness, it’s just impossible to avoid. Just wait until you try this sweet orange monkey bread Sarah has been making for me… 🤤🤤🤤

8.) I’ve been thinking we should do another small business get together soon at one of the shops, any opinions about which shop we should do it at next?

9.) I can’t wait to tell you guys about where our next shop after Spring Grove is going to be… 👀😁

I’m stoked to say that this man right here is starting his ‘post-retirement’ job at Britton Coffee at the end of this week. Despite what you may think “retirement” means, we fully intend to exhaust his body in ways his guidance-counselor job couldn’t even dream of 😉🤣

MY DAD AND I ARE GONNA GET TO WORK TOGETHER!

And whether it’s for a few months and he gets tired of it or he gets hooked and wants to help grow the biz, I’m just stoked it’s happening at all! So everyone please welcome Britton Coffee’s brand new maintenance man/equipment tech/landscaper/renovation GC/whatever else I can wrangle him into 🙌🙌

And yes, the picture you’re looking at WAS in fact his job interview/audition piece which is a 12’ tall treehouse complete with quadruple slide. Yes he built it by himself, and yes we are in good hands. And no, he’s not even close to done with it 😂😂

And it couldn’t come a day too soon because I’m basically living over here at Spring Grove and my body is shot already. Not to mention my mind (it’s basically a wasteland up there). So getting reinforcements is gonna go a longgggg way.

So again, please welcome Dr. Britton, the most over-qualified maintenance man who ever lived. 🔨👏
