Since its invention in 1904, the Banana Split has become an iconic part of American dessert culture. Its history began when David Strickler, a 23-year-old “soda jerk” at a drugstore in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, started experimenting with different ice cream combinations. He cut a banana lengthwise, added three scoops of ice cream – typically vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry – and initially topped it with sweet syrups, chopped nuts, whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry. We're not so different from David Strickler ~ we also love to experiment with ice cream combinations and we love a banana split: ours includes: vanilla, chocolate, and twist soft serve, covered with pineapple, strawberry, and Hershey's syrup, surrounded by bananas, and topped off with whipped cream and cherries.

So come on down and help us celebrate with a $5 banana split, either traditionally in a boat or "upside down" in a 22oz cup! (TODAY ONLY - no substitutions or omissions please).

Mother Nature must be jealous that she hasn’t won at Caboose night trivia yet, and so she sends us rain on Monday nights 🙄

In case you haven’t checked the radar out yet, it’s looking to be pretty wet right around 6pm tonight ☹️

As a result, we are going to cancel tonight’s trivia. We are super bummed, but are optimistic for next Monday!! 🤞

Stay dry. Stay well. And we hope to see you (and your umbrellas) at the Caboose!

Within 100 years, when did the construction of the leaning tower of Pisa begin?

If you know that it was in 1173, then you are already for trivia tonight!!

It looks like Mother Nature is working in our favor this time, and we are getting ready with baked penne pasta, a Caesar salad, and Texas toast for dinner tonight!

We hope you will join us with DJ Dale for an evening of fun, friends, and food!!

So grab your device, a lawn chair, and as many friends as you can gather up and join us from 6-8pm at the Caboose for Monday night trivia!

As the evenings begin to feel cooler and the “back to school” sales start, we are reminded that summer is, unfortunately, starting its decline into autumn.

We, too, need to start preparing for that inevitability (bummer) 🫶🏻

Starting tomorrow, Sunday, August 16th we will begin our “fall hours” and go back to being open daily from 2-8pm.

We do have a couple of seasonal flavors to assist in this transition though😋

Apple crisp and pumpkin pie ice creams are back!! And don’t forget about those hot coffee and hot chocolate floats! (Apple cider ones will come closer to school starting) 🍎

Don’t let this seasonal switch get you down! There is still lots of fun to be had this summer- and we hope to be part of it at the Caboose! 🚂

Update: unfortunately the radar is a little too uncertain today so we will need to cancel trivia for tonight ☹️☔️🌂 we are so sorry for the disappointment, but we hope you’ll join us next Monday for trivia!

We’re keeping an eye to the sky today and holding off as long we possible to make a decision about trivia tonight. Either way, we do NOT have a dinner special tonight (boo, Mother Nature)! We hope the hot dogs and sausage may fill the hunger for tonight.

Sorry for the indecision… no one wants the deluge we had last year 😂🤦‍♀️
