💔 Grapevine, we think this is one we can help with.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of 2024 Grapevine High School graduate and Mustang football standout, Demontrez Dunn.

If you ever watched Demontrez play, you know exactly what kind of spark he was. Through some challenging seasons, he brought energy, heart, and hope to the field. Coaches consistently praised his attitude, work ethic, and character. And every time the football found its way into his hands, you felt like something special could happen.

But beyond the touchdowns and highlights, Demontrez will be remembered for something even greater: his smile. It was the kind of smile that could light up a room and make people feel welcome. He had a way of bringing joy to those around him.

Tragically, Demontrez lost his life in a car accident, leaving behind a heartbroken family, friends, teammates, coaches, and a community that cared deeply for him.

His mother shared these words: “My son Demontrez brought so much love, laughter, and light into the lives of everyone who knew him. He was always ready to help others and make those around him smile. His absence is felt deeply by everyone who cared for him.”

As his family prepares to honor and celebrate his life, they are facing funeral and memorial expenses that are more than they can manage alone.

🇺🇸 A special honor is coming to Grapevine this weekend!

This Saturday at 10 a.m., Rock & Brews will be designated a Purple Heart Restaurant by the local Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 1513 DFW Mid-Cities.

The designation recognizes the restaurant’s support of veterans and Purple Heart recipients: service members who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Adding to the occasion, a 1944 military jeep will be on display in remembrance of the anniversary of D-Day, one of the most significant moments in World War II history. 🇺🇸

Talk about perfect timing…just as she celebrates her FOURTH daughter graduating from Colleyville Heritage High School 🎓❤️, she’s also stepping back into the spotlight and sharing new music with the world.

Lani’s country music journey started at just 5 years old and has taken her from the legendary Grapevine Opry to Billy Bob’s Texas, Six Flags Over Texas, the State Fair of Texas, AT&T Stadium, and stages alongside country stars including Reba McEntire, Jo Dee Messina, Pam Tillis, Shenandoah, Mark Chesnutt, Joe Diffie, Ricky Skaggs, and many more.

After spending the last several years focused on raising her four daughters, she’s proving it’s never too late to chase your dreams. Now, with more than 35 years of performing experience, she’s back with new music, leading her band Diamond West, and kicking off an exciting new chapter with the release of “City Cowgirl.”

🚨 🇺🇸 One of the most anticipated community projects in the area now has an opening date!

Colleyville’s brand-new Heroes Park will officially celebrate its grand opening on June 26 as part of the city’s Stars & Guitars event.

Located next to Colleyville City Hall, the park is designed to honor community heroes while also serving as a gathering place for residents and special events. The project includes:

✨ Open event space
🌳 Beautiful landscaping
💧 Water features
🪖 Hero recognition areas
📖 Shared historical displays
🗿 Sculptures and more

What makes the project especially meaningful is that a citizen-led design committee helped create the vision, bringing together community members, veterans, and others with experience in similar memorial and community spaces.

Construction appears to be nearing the finish line, and before long, this new landmark will be welcoming visitors from across the community.

🍔 TEXAS, YOUR SLIDERS ARE READY! 🍔 White Castle is finally coming to Texas! The legendary slider chain officially broke ground this week on its first-ever Texas location at Grandscape in The Colony. Officials celebrated with spatula-shaped shovels, a ceremonial sprinkling of onions, and plenty of their famous sliders.

The new restaurant will be located at 5420 Destination Drive and is expected to open in late fall 2026.

For decades, Texans have heard about White Castle from movies, road trips, and friends from other parts of the country. Soon, they’ll be able to decide for themselves if the iconic little burgers live up to the hype.

After previously voting against the project just two weeks ago, Grapevine City Council unanimously approved a zoning change Tuesday night that clears the way for a major mixed-use development near Grapevine Mills, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The proposal includes:
🏢 248 apartment units across 11 buildings
🏨 A six-story Sandman Signature Hotel with 220 rooms
🥩 A full-service Chop Steakhouse & Bar
📈 An estimated $3 million in annual tax revenue, according to the developer

Some residents spoke against the project, citing concerns about additional traffic and the continued loss of Grapevine’s small-town feel. Others on the council pointed to the economic benefits and the challenges of developing the property under its existing restrictions.

Mayor William D. Tate said the developer had worked with city staff for months to revise the plan and that the property owners were entitled to a reasonable use of the land.

Can you imagine? 😳 This video has now been viewed more than 2.5 million times, and it’s a powerful reminder of what matters most.

Billy () and his wife, Christie, were involved in a serious crash when their Corvette lost control in the rain in Grapevine, left the roadway, and struck a pole. Miraculously, both walked away without injuries, and no one else was hurt.

What has resonated with so many people is the audio from the crash. As the accident unfolded, Billy can be heard saying just three words over and over: “I love you.”

Cars can be replaced. People cannot.

We’re thankful they are both okay, and it’s a reminder to slow down, be careful in wet conditions, and never take a normal day for granted. ❤️
