Unfortunately, our air conditioning system has failed, and the temperature inside the restaurant is already approaching 90 degrees early this morning.

With the sun coming up and our ovens and grills adding even more heat, we do not feel it is safe or fair to ask our employees to work in those conditions. The well-being of both our customers and our staff has to come first.

We will be closed today while we work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and greatly appreciate your understanding and continued support. We look forward to welcoming everyone back very soon.

The combination of power running from senior Bradly Matthews, the electric arm of quarterback David Doy, and a suffocating defense, propelled the Lancers to a dominant 56-17 victory over Frederick County rival Oakdale (10-3) at Saturday night’s MPSSAA Class 3A State Championship game.

“The Linganore defense held Oakdale to only 178 total yards for the entire night. Quarterback Alex Rodriguez was pressured the entire night, completing only 8-of-21 passes for 108 yards, and also throwing two interceptions. The Bears only managed 70 yards on the ground on 21 carries, and, although Oakdale led midway through the second quarter, they were never able to sustain enough offense to remain close to Linganore.

Doy had a huge night for the Lancers, completing 16-of-21 passes for 266 yards and five touchdowns. Matthews had one of those scoring receptions, while also running for 161 yards and three separate rushing touchdowns on 31 carries. In total, six players caught passes for Linganore, with four of those players grabbing at least one touchdown.

Oakdale hung tough with the Lancers through much of the first half. Despite falling behind 14-3 after the first quarter, the Bears would add two touchdowns within the span of two and a half minutes. Rodriguez scored from 4-yards out on a QB keeper, and Charlie Alt picked off Doy’s pass and returned it 51 yards for a pick-six. That return gave Oakdale a 17-14 lead, but Linganore managed to score three touchdowns in the final five and a half minutes of the half, and took a 35-17 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Oakdale just could not do anything at all on offense. The Lancers defense held Oakdale to only 69 yards of total offense after halftime, and forced Rodriguez into throwing two picks. Meanwhile, Linganore fed Matthews the ball and wore out the Bears defense. Matthews scored all three of Linganore’s second half touchdowns, to bring his season total to 40 trips to the end zone. With his effort on Saturday night, he also eclipsed the 2,000 yard mark for the season, finishing with 2,124 total on 246 carries.”
