Need taco delivery to Washington state?

Apparently... we got you. 😂🌮📦

Okay, technically we didn’t ship the whole taco.
But when someone who moved away years ago reached out because she still remembered our Waynedale Café tacos and wanted to recreate them at home, we sent her our taco beef recipe.
There was just one problem.

The crunchy shells.

We fry those fresh here at the restaurant, and unfortunately we still haven’t figured out how to attach freshly fried taco shells to an email. 😂

So we told her we’d mail some.
And then... we took embarrassingly long to actually do it. 🤦‍♂️
Her response got buried in our email, but we finally caught it, fried up a fresh batch, and got them packed.

VERY carefully.

Bags. Air cushions. Purple tape everywhere. “FRAGILE, HANDLE WITH CARE” written on the box like we were sending priceless artifacts instead of taco shells. 😂

Then off they went from the Waynedale Post Office, headed all the way to Washington.
Hopefully they survive the trip.
But the whole thing got us thinking.
Certain foods stay with you because they become connected to everything around them.

The people you ate with.
The table you always sat at.
Saturday morning breakfast.
Coffee refills.

That one dish you still think about years after moving away.
Sometimes you’re not just remembering the food.
You’re remembering a piece of home.

We genuinely love our customers, and hearing that something we made became part of somebody’s memories means more to us than they probably realize. ❤️

There are two photos that pretty much tell this story.

One is our food trailer sitting at Canterbury, looking bright, clean, and ready to go.

The other is me several hours later looking like I personally played all 80 minutes of the soccer game. 😂

Somewhere between those two photos, a lot happened.

Steak street tacos started disappearing fast. Families kept coming through the window. Soccer and volleyball were happening all around us. And the girls soccer team finished the night with a 6–0 win. ⚽️🙌

It was busy, tiring, and honestly a lot of fun.

Thanks to Deric, Marcy, the Canterbury families, students, and everyone who helped make the evening happen and support Cavalier Athletics.

I’d happily do it again.

Maybe after a nap. 😂

Well… Friday definitely did not go according to plan. 😂

Around 9:30 that morning, about two and a half hours after we opened Waynedale Café, a semi hit a power line and knocked out our power.

So instead of finishing out a normal Friday at the restaurant, we ended up closing early and heading home.

Luckily, we had something pretty important waiting for us there anyway. ❤️

Our daughter was coming home from a school trip to D.C., and we already had barbacoa slow cooking for her welcome-home dinner.

Marinated overnight.
Slow cooked for about 8 hours with onion, herbs, and plenty of seasoning.

All of that work just to end up inside one little taco. 😂🌮

But honestly, there are few things better than coming home after being away and having your family waiting for you with a good meal.

So the restaurant may have closed early, but apparently we just moved the kitchen home. 😄

Not the Friday we planned, but still a pretty good ending.

⚡️ Well… that wasn’t part of today’s plan. 😭

We lost power this morning along with the surrounding area, and we’ve been told it’s not expected to be restored until around 2 PM.

Unfortunately, that means Waynedale Café has to close early for the rest of today.

We hate having to shut the doors, especially when we were already up, prepped and serving, but there isn’t much you can do with a restaurant full of equipment and no electricity. 😅

Thank you to everyone who came in this morning, and we’re sorry to anyone who was planning to stop by later today.

We’ll be back at it as soon as we can. ❤️

WAYNEDALE BEFORE WORK ☕️🍳

There’s a different version of Waynedale Café between 7 and 9 in the morning.

The coffee is fresh, the grill is going, there’s usually plenty of room, and you can actually sit down for breakfast without your morning disappearing on you.

So for the next few weeks, we’re giving our early mornings a little extra love.

Before work. Before the rush.

Our Early Bird Breakfast is $9.99 with coffee included, Monday through Friday from 7–9 AM.

Dine in, grab it to go, or order breakfast on the way.

For the contractors, teachers, nurses, drivers, office crews, parents, early-shift people and everybody else who's already been awake longer than they'd like to admit... 😄

Some catering jobs feed a room. Others remind you why the room matters.

We had the opportunity to cater INSPIRE 2026 at Electric Works, and it was one of those days.

It was great seeing familiar faces, meeting new ones, and being around so many people who spend their time working in and supporting neighborhoods throughout our community.

Our part was pretty simple: do what we do best and make sure everybody was fed. ❤️

Breakfast, fresh fruit, pastries, plenty of coffee, and then a whole lot of moving pieces behind the scenes to make it all come together.

Was it a challenge? Absolutely. 😂
But that’s catering. You plan, adjust, solve whatever pops up, and somehow by the time everyone arrives, it looks like it was supposed to happen that way all along."

We’re grateful we got to support the work happening in our community in a way that feels very natural to us: "bringing people together around food.**

Breakfast has a funny way of making a lot of work disappear.

By the time hashbrowns hit the plate, nobody is thinking about the potatoes being boiled, cooled, peeled, shredded and portioned first.

Nobody sees the ham getting sliced earlier, or the cook quietly keeping track of which burner runs cooler while trying to land several completely different meals at the same time.

You just get breakfast.

Hot coffee. Crispy potatoes. Eggs the way you ordered them.

And somewhere in the middle of all of it, somebody is definitely saying they’re “not that hungry” while reaching across the table for someone else’s bacon. 😂
