LocoPops is Hiring!
We're looking to hire a Retail Specialist for a 3 mo contract from March - May. If you're someone interested in part-time work and connecting with your community but not in a year-round commitment, this is the gig for you! If you're interested in a more permanent position, we'd be happy to talk about that as well - we offer health insurance for employees with an average of 25 hours /week.
LocoShop Retail Specialist
Hours: 20-25 hours/week, Wed-Fri, availability beginning 3/1 to train through late May.
Pay: Hourly $18-25/hour, commensurate with experience
LocoShop is a neighborhood store, part bodega, part ice cream parlor, part gift shop located on Foster St near Durham Central Park. We focus on locally made specialty pantry items, cheeses, meats, interesting spices and sauces, meals-to-go, beer and wine, gifts and home goods, and more.
The ideal candidate has a passion for food and an interest in retail business including merchandising and store design, customer service, & community building.
Responsibilities:
● Greet customers and assist with questions, offer information, help direct them through the store
● Check out customers, handle payment transactions
● Maintain look and feel of the store - merchandise and re-stock as needed
● Report on items that are low in stock
● Learn about the products in the store, and use that information to guide customers.
● Complete side work and cleaning duties at every shift.
● May also include: store design and promotional material development
● Serve pops and ice cream as needed.
Requirements:
● Must be at least 18 years of age
● Preference given to candidates with prior experience in customer service, cash handling and/or sales, merchandising and display
● Interest in specialty food and our local food system
