There’s something special about a mid-morning stop at the Commodore. Standing along the Bachelor Loop, with the weathered remains of one of Creede’s historic mining operations resting quietly against the mountainside, it’s impossible not to feel connected to the people who carved a life out of these rugged canyons. Every old timber, every rusted piece of machinery, feels like a reminder that these trails were once bustling with dreams, determination, and a whole lot of hard work.

By mid-morning, the light becomes pure magic. As the sun climbs above the peaks, golden rays spill over the towering walls of Willow Canyon, slowly illuminating the mine and painting the landscape with warmth and texture. Shadows retreat across the slopes while the surrounding aspens and rock faces seem to glow. It’s one of those moments that makes you stop, take a deep breath, and appreciate just how beautiful Creede can be when the day is just getting started.

Of course, every good morning adventure deserves a proper beginning—a Dirty Hippie from Coffee on the Fly—the perfect companion for a stroll along Willow Creek. With coffee in hand, mountain air in my lungs, and a century of mining history waiting around every bend, it’s hard to imagine a better way to spend a Creede morning.

A beautiful 45-degree Saturday morning here in Creede is feeding the need for some Coffee on the Fly, as per the usual arrangement 🤣

We would love to hear about your favorite COTF drinks and experiences… if you know me, you know I’m grabbing a Dirty Hippie. Robbi is a “matcha with oat milk” kinda girl. Kambrie and the COTF crew are the best folks on the planet, and it always brightens our day to stop in and spend some time with them.

Today is a busy one—a lot of piddly work to get done around the house, final edits to make on the Lower South Clear Creek Falls video (dropping here this evening), and random to-do items with the dogs and the kiddos.

We hope all of you are starting your Saturday safe and well, blessed coming and going. God is good—all the time ❤️
