Today, we celebrate Chilli Pepper Way and the incredible legacy of Chilli Pepper, whose deep commitment to Howard Brown Health helped strengthen and sustain our mission of affirming healthcare for all. Her final recorded performance was EPIC at our Who’s That Girl gala in 2024. A conference room is named in her honor at our Halsted care center.

For decades, Chilli was a tireless champion for the LGBTQ+ community - and Howard Brown - bringing her performance, her heart, her humor to the work of ensuring everyone can access care where they feel seen, respected and affirmed.

This street sign is more than a name on a corner. It’s a tribute to a Chicago icon and a reminder of the difference one person can make when they show up, speak out and give back.
