We are pumped for this week’s tasting! The lineup:
Meyer-Fonne Gentil - Exotic, perfumed notes from Muscat swirl around classic Riesling aromas like pear and nectarine. A beautiful pale straw color belies the dense stone fruit on the palate. The wine has tension and texture, and it finishes with hints of nuttiness and a lemon zest twang.
Silvio Giamello Barbaresco - Silvio Giamello is the best Barbaresco producer you have never heard of. From just five acres of Nebbiolo, he quietly and humbly crafts wines brimming with authenticity that always overdeliver, yet remain underpriced for the quality you’ll find in the bottle. Old vines, natural fermentations, large cask aging, and an unfiltered bottling: this is the full package. The warm 2022 vintage yielded a splendidly thick, chewy Barbaresco that will develop beautifully in your cellar.
Domaine Gramenon - “Poignée de Raisins”—a fistful of grapes—accomplishes the elusive feat of boasting both soul and soaring joie de vivre. If there were a Hall of Fame for French bistro reds, Poignée would be a first-ballot inductee. This vibrant and classy cuvée is the southern France counterpart to our favorite Morgons, and exemplifies that ideal intersection between progressive farming, meticulous winemaking, and honest expression of its unique Rhône terroirs. Vines grow in galets roulés under the southern sun, which means there’s plenty of earth, garrigue, and grip, but this is no doubt Gramenon’s most easy-drinking bottling.
Drop by Wednesdays between 5:30-7:30 for a free tasting and 30% off bottles! No reservation required. We hope to see you!
