Bistros today aren't just French. They're global, pulling flavor from every corner of the map. Ours goes wherever that flavor is, and right now that's the shawarma spiced chicken thighs: marinated, char grilled, plated with house made toum, turmeric rice, hummus and pickled onion.

Every year we set up a table at Vine & Dine in Bloomfield Hills and send out small plates to a room full of neighbors. We've been coming for a long time, because a neighborhood restaurant should show up for the neighborhood, including the neighbors who need a hand.

This year's night raised money for The DRE Project, which brings meals and groceries to families across metro Detroit. We made a smaller version of our Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl, served in a martini glass with mango, avocado, wakame and pickled onion on a bed of sushi rice.

The full-size bowl is on our menu, so come sit down and have one whenever you like.

Years ago, coconut shrimp lived on the menu at our sister restaurant, Streetside Seafood, and people never really stopped asking about it. So we brought it back, just down the road at your neighborhood joint. Crispy coconut crust, mango, sweet chili lime sauce for dipping. Pairs well with a Pama-Rita.

Who says a neighborhood joint can't have an incredible wine list? Afterall, life's too short to drink bad wine.
