Apple Butter Cinnamon Buns
INGREDIENTS
Cinnamon Buns
1¼ cups milk or non-dairy milk
5 tbsp butter or margarine
4 cups All-Purpose Flour
¼ cup sugar
¾ tsp salt
1 package rapid-rise yeast (2¼ tsp)
1 large egg
Filling
½ cup Manischewitz Apple Butter
¾ cup packed light brown sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
Apple & Honey Glaze
2 tbsp butter or margarine
1 tbsp honey
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
1 tbsp Manischewitz Apple Butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
Milk or non-dairy milk, as needed
DIRECTIONS
Warm milk and butter until the butter is melted and the milk is warm, not hot. Transfer to a mixer fitted with a dough hook.
Combine flour, sugar and salt separately. Sprinkle yeast over the milk mixture, stir, then add the dry ingredients and egg. Knead for 5 minutes.
Transfer dough to an oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel and let rise for 1 hour.
Roll dough into approximately a 9x14-inch rectangle.
Mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Spread Manischewitz Apple Butter over the dough and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Roll tightly from the long side and cut into 12 pieces. Place in a greased 9x13-inch pan, cover and let rise for another hour.
Bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.
Whisk together the glaze ingredients, adding milk as needed until thick but pourable. Pour over the warm cinnamon buns and enjoy!
