Sunspire Cafe was born from their shared dream to create something of their own — a space that reflects their multicultural roots, values, and love for community. Hiro, with over a decade of experience in coffee and hospitality, is the face behind the bar. Whether it's espresso, matcha, teas, or lemonades, he pours each drink with care and presence. Mary works behind the scenes, managing logistics, bookings, and every detail that helps Sunspire run smoothly. Living with type 1 diabetes, Hashimoto’s, and rheumatoid arthritis, Mary brings a deeply mindful approach to inclusivity and wellness — making sure dietary needs and preferences are always considered, from low-sugar options to dairy-free alternatives. Together, Mary and Hiro balance each other like espresso and oat milk. Hiro is a grounded Capricorn — calm and quietly ambitious. Mary is a spirited Sagittarius — curious, bold, and full of fire. Though Sunspire is a shared vision, it began with Hiro’s long-held dream of running his own cafe. Seeing it come to life has been one of the most rewarding parts of their journey together. As a Filipino-Japanese family, Mary and Hiro proudly honor their roots by sourcing ingredients that reflect their heritage. They’re also first-generation entrepreneurs — building something from the ground up, not passed down. Sunspire Cafe is more than just drinks — it’s about creating moments. Whether it’s a handcrafted espresso or a kind conversation, Mary and Hiro believe every connection matters. Originally from Queens, NY, and now based in NJ, they’re raising their three children while serving beautiful drinks and real community energy across the tri-state area.
