This is what “2018 going out with a bang” looks like, at 92. What’s my Parents' secret? I don’t know, but they have outlived many of the messianic 'transformational' leaders that promised to 'change the world' in the last 90 years. Having survived the Spain of the 1930s and 1940s, and the Venezuela of the 1980s and 1990s (which led to what’s going on today), they have quite a story to tell. Theirs is not one of a narcissistic YouTuber 'gone crazy', but perhaps one for mass at Church, or for a Corporate Coach at a startup going in the wrong direction. Ultimately, that might have been the right reason for shutting down Fair Bean a year ago, so I could witness and hear of all the miracles in these two lives. Regrettable errors and mistakes throughout their lives? Yeah, of course. Their candor, though, mocks the duplicitous public display of political correctness by all the ‘influencers' of today (who want to become the next messianic do-gooder that saves the country tomorrow). My Parents think something big is coming at us, and it’s not a new rock band from England. They just 'smell it’, like they did throughout their lives. They’re not worried, though. They’re sure a few good people will remain standing afterwards, like they are today, thankful, and thinking back on all those who fell for it, and saying prayers for those affected by it. Prayers too for everyone in Spain and Venezuela. And of course, Prayers for my Parents themselves and the rest of my Family, and for all our friends and everyone in the USA, with Spanish Tortilla, Pan de Jamon, and even a Cigarette in hand. Blessings to all. A Healthy and Peaceful 2019 for everyone. Andres Salvador

Dear Fair Be***rs, thank you again for kindest reaction to Fair Bean's closing and for all the well wishing in the future. Something that came to my mind recently may interest a few of you, especially those thinking about holidays' shopping and special times at Fair Bean. A few years ago we asked a local jeweler (Kristina Cutbirth) to create a coffee bean necklace as a "piece of Fair Bean" that one could get and keep as a personal item. Kristina did a fantastic job with one of our Guatemalan beans and designed a few necklaces for women and also for guys, and we displayed them at Fair Bean for a while. Many customers purchased necklaces but after a store break-in the display was removed. I have worn my necklace for several years and some of you may have seen me at the counter with it. Some of you may be interested in something like this: a simple yet beautiful piece of Fair Bean as a 'memento'. Kristina would like to see what kind of interest there is for necklaces in the Fair Bean community before she goes off and stocks up on materials and I think this Fair Bean page serves this purpose nicely. The price for a standard necklace (Sterling Silver chain and bean) is $58 (plus Tax, probably). All money goes directly to Kristina and this Fair Bean page is just a 'conduit' and way to compile any interest in them. Please PrivMessage me with your questions or requests. As a reference, Kristina's website is KristinaNicoleDesigns.com, but these necklaces are not there (other beautiful creations of her are, though). Here's a couple of pictures of the women's version of it and also the guys' version (with a leather strap). Lastly, but "not lastly", Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to everyone. Best wishes to everyone in 2018! Andres

Dear Fair Be***rs, Thank you Thank you for your show of support and best wishes; your kindness has truly been overwhelming.

I would like to clarify a point (for those customers asking ‘Why?’ ‘Why?’ - Fair Bean closing): nothing wrong with our space or location, nothing wrong with our rent, nothing wrong with the Landlord, and surely nothing wrong with our products / customers. Answer: our recruiting model virtually came to a 'halt' in the last 3-4 years, and while back then we could easily attract, equally rely on, AND reward (for example) a person that had dropped out of high school as well as a Grad-school scholarship recipient on her way to an Ivy league school (TRUE STORY), and keep the store adequately staffed, in the last few years this strength of Fair Bean has gone completely dimmed, and with it, the levels of minimum competitiveness required to run a shop like ours. That’s why you’ve seen me at the shop so much these last few years, and, truly, had it not been for the friends and special people mentioned above, (AND for your patience : ) Fair Bean’s closing might have come earlier. Some of you had remarked that this situation was not sustainable; true, and in the last few months I really ran out of energy trying to compensate for it, and of time to try to fix the problem. So I decided to stop. A very difficult decision on a very simple issue. Again, I truly appreciate your patience and support over the years: it made what seemed like a 'super human' effort a sensible approach to what had come to us. Thank you, really.

We’ll run normal hours today. We’ve stocked up on Cold Brew; Donna also made extra Zucchini breads to lower our final kitchen inventory, and we also are stocked-up on fresh roasted bulk coffee of the following origins: Ethiopia, Decaf Peru, Cold Brew blend, Espresso blend, Sumatra and Bolivia. As I empty the store tomorrow Sunday through next week I will also be selling coffee in bulk (no drinks). And our last Artist, Laura (coincidentally Adam's girlfriend: Adam was one of our first Artists at Fair Bean 10 years ago), still has art reasonably priced on our walls: come check it out or contact Laura through our page to arrange for some art purchase.

Hope to see you soon. And again, big Thank You for your support.

Andres
