About that latest rate hike...
I’ve been selling intown Atlanta real estate full time for almost 40 years, so I’ve seen interest rates go up & come down.
The latest rate increase matters, with a caveat: a Fed rate hike doesn’t translate directly or immediately into higher mortgage rates. Mortgage rates respond to a broader mix of economic forces and expectations. Still, for buyers, it changes at least the mental math, so know your numbers and shop your financing. For sellers, it can shrink the buyer pool, making smart pricing and good presentation even more important.
PERSPECTIVE: I’ve sold homes when mortgage rates were considerably higher than today’s. In 40 years, I’ve never met anyone who bought or sold a home because interest rates were perfect. They did it because life happened. Rates are just one piece of the puzzle. And, remember, **you date the rate, but marry the home.**
