Our Story
ESSENCE CAFE·THURSDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2017·
New owners Paul and Xia commenced on 20th February 2017, what a journey it is nearly been one year. At Essence we have strived very hard to please, courteous friendly staff, great food and on time to the
very best of our ability. We pride ourselves on creating a fun place to dine, we will talk to you, laugh with you and also listen to you. Essence is a fun place to come to, we also have catering, out of hours dining for those special get togethers we can create for you or accommodate your desires. We have a lovely courtyard which is just perfect under the shade of large umbrellas, we have learnt alot this past year and we hope we have created good vibes about experiences at Essence Cafe, we are not perfect however we try to be as well as presenting you with a fun atmosphere. Parking can be an issue at times we are able to use parking on Aubrey Street down the back left hand side of the Salvation Army against the fence, courtesy of the Salvation Army. Park your car in the New World Supermarket we are only 20m away. Feel free to use the courtyard an amazing array of gardens and sunshine. It has now been 2 years, we have met so many friendly people which help us to survive in a very competitive industry, we are blessed with well trained courteous staff, we offer a seasonal menu and an ever changing cabinet variety, we will cater for your every needs, look on our website and visit the catering section where you can download our catering menu which is not fixed, everything is totally what you ask for www.essencecafe.co.nz
Further more parking is available at Cross st, this is behind the supermarket and adjacent to the primary school, Don’t drive past, come in, you will be surprised what we have to offer. A new menu has arrived, the weather has to change soon so we have met this pending change with a menu to warm you up, remember the parking at Cross Street we are always limited for parking outside the front door. A third year has passed and we finally started to see the light shining down the tunnel, it has been a struggle, alot of determination from all of us has seen us this far, thank you to all our customers we cannot do it without your support,
Year 4 Wow now a virus which has closed us down for a month and the world is suffering, looks like back to square one and see if we get through this one
We have managed to survive the lock down although like many businesses have had to borrow to keep going, since going back to level 2 then 1 we are once again doing very well however the pain of a lock down loss still lives with all of us. Our team is united to serve you and to create an atmosphere where you are welcome, you may have noticed the courtyard lately, the overgrown trees, the debris the mess everyday near means you need a full time grounds caretaker, this we cannot afford under these times, a decision was made thanks to our lovely landlord to rid the trees and the shed which is older than me to create for you a new and expansive atmosphere to dine in Whangarei sunshine when it decides not to rain, with added tables and umbrellas to create for you one of the largest outdoor arenas in Whangarei, once again it is thanks to our landlord that makes this possible, by the way I am about to become a Gardner as well as chief cake maker, chef, dishwasher and customer service, let us see what we can create in the courtyard. Wow now in our 8th year however the country has crashed and we are all crashing with it, times are so bad but it is not your fault our patrons, we struggle like you to survive, how we get out of this dilemma no one knows, if we stay alive at the cafe, then it has been at a severe cost to the owners who are basically working for love, we need you, but we are all in the same boat, we smile at you each day behind the pain, we will hopefully survive
