Today in Crow Tavern history we go back to 1907.

The Dwan Brothers were prominent Wellington businessmen, hotel brokers and estate agents who operated a highly successful agency starting from 1879.

The Dwan Brothers purchased the freehold of the Crow Tavern (then the Clarendon hotel) in 1900.

Lamartine Dwan passed away in 1939 and the Clarendon was sold. Probate records show that when he passed he left £47,617.14, equivalent to over $6.3 million in today’s money.

It’s awesome to be able to play a part in supporting the local community through The Lion Foundation. Marlborough Lines Stadium 2000 is such a fantastic facility for people of all ages, so it’s great to be able to contribute in helping make things a little easier and safer for both staff and visitors.

You may have noticed that George hasn't been around the Crow this week.

Well after a long time on the market George got an offer he could not refuse and last week the deal was finalised.

The new Auckland based owners have assured us staff that the Crow will continue to be just the way it has been under Georges ownership with no major changes ahead.

The good news from all of this though is that it is actually just April Fools and George is away on Holiday. You can expect him back behind the bar next week 🙂
