After 20 wonderful years, it’s time to say goodbye to The Suter Café ❤️
This Sunday will be our final day, with the café open for brunch until 3pm.
This hasn’t been an easy decision. The years since covid have been incredibly challenging for hospitality, and unfortunately the ongoing downturn has meant we’ve made the difficult decision to close the café and enter liquidation.
But more than anything, I want this note to be about gratitude.
To The Suter Art Gallery: thank you for allowing us to call this beautiful place home for so many years.
To every staff member who has been part of our journey: thank you. Your hard work and care have meant more to me than I can say over the years.
And to our wonderful customers: thank you for choosing to spend your time with us. Whether you’ve visited every week, caught up with friends over coffee, celebrated something special, popped in on your visit to Nelson, or simply stopped in after visiting the gallery, you have made these 20 years incredibly memorable.
At 76, I can look back and say I have absolutely loved being part of The Suter Café. I’ve always wanted everyone who walked through our doors to feel welcome, well looked after and, of course... to have the best seat in the house.
We’ll be here until 3pm this Sunday and we would be absolutely thrilled to see you. Come in, say hello, enjoy your favourite meal or coffee and help us celebrate 20 years of memories.
