The Ferment Kitchen Kia ora, I'm Geraldine! I love sharing this ancient art with online and in person classes.

I love fermenting and will give almost anything a go...cockles, pine needles, tamarillo skins and the more usual suspects...sauerkraut, kombucha and sourdough! As a passionate fermenter, I love to teach others how simple and satisfying it is to ferment at home. Small batch fermentation delivers the tastiest, nutrient rich results with basic equipment. Online Sourdough Classes this Winter!

As you know my fermenting style is super relaxed and no-fuss. My approach to sourdough is no different!
I'll share how to keep your starter bug healthy and thriving but only feeding it as you need it.
No discard or waste unless you're planning on discard recipes - which can be amazing! I'll cover crackers and granola - my two favs!

And the bread it just as simple. No kneading, no stretch and folds. We mix flour, water and starter then let it rise before baking.

Over the years so many workshop participants have said, "I would have made sourdough sooner if I'd known it could be this easy!"

My 11 year old is doing a research project compiling sourdough stories from around Aotearoa (how cool right!!!).

He'd love if you would take 5mins to complete the attached survey.

The responses so far are heaps of fun to read through; great recipes, feeding routines, fun names and stories about family bugs.

Here, he's pictured with his first rewena loaf. He created the bug from scratch with our homegrown spuds!
