On June 16, I had the honour of sharing a story of Resilience at the Jamaica Observer Foodie Seminar through the journey of EITS Café, 17 Mile Post.
In my presentation, I shared that Resilience isn’t about pretending everything is okay—it’s about choosing to keep going.
For me, resilience meant rebuilding after the fire, finding the strength to carry on after losing my father and recovering after Hurricane Melissa, while continuing the vision my father and I created for 17 Mile Post.
On June 25, I was deeply humbled to receive the Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards “Resilience Award.” I accept it in honour of my father’s legacy and everyone who has stood beside us through every challenge, every rebuilding and every new beginning.
My heartfelt thanks to the Jamaica Observer and the Foodie Seminar team for this incredible honour. A special thank you to Novia McDonald-Whyte, who has believed in me all along, always encouraging me, cheering me on and reminding me to believe in myself.
To our incredible EITS Café team, our guests, family, friends and everyone who continues to believe in what we’re building in the Blue Mountains—Thank You.
Here’s to resilience, legacy and moving forward with gratitude.
The Journey continues.
