It's a long list of ingredients, that's why it's one of the hardest pizzas to make well. I often ponder on whether it's a best seller because people see value in loads of toppings, or because it's really what they want, but when made properly it's a symphony of umami, a thing to behold!
Also... We have new artichokes which are (as I'm going around saying like a cockney fruit and veg seller) "four times the price and four times as nice!"
Same price to you though! Tempting eh? Both restaurants open throughout the heat with air conditioned customer seating, just don't leave the door open on your way in!

Courgette... The best a man can get
Our new special is out, and it's a celebration of the courgette! And yes of course anyone can get it, not just men...
Roast courgette & pecorino base, mozzarella, fried courgette, basil, parmesan and black pepper.
Inspired by the flavours of the great pasta dish Nerano, slow cooking the courgettes brings out their beautiful sweetness, combined with the tang of parmesan it's an absolute belter. To the point where last week when I was testing it I resorted to using the courgette puree for the base as a crust dip and it was epic.

Heidi was one of the first singers to call me to play with her when I moved back from studying music in Birmingham in 2010 and I've always loved playing with her, endlessly inventive and effortlessly cool, I can personally guarantee you a fantastic night out because I know just how amazing she is!

Using some basic GCSE maths to do with radiuses, circumstances and most importantly (pizza) pi, I figured out that for double the price of a 12 inch pizzas, you get 2.3x the surface area with our giant 18 inch pizzas in Putney, mine blowing isn't it?!
These are only available in Putney (and Richmond when we manage to get some ideas when we might open again), Barnes unfortunately just doesn't have the space to make them.
I would highly suggest popping down to Putney tonight from 7pm for one, because I'll be bringing my trio down featuring and Seb De Krom to play some of the Sonny Rollins trio songbook in his memory, seems the stars have aligned for you if you've managed to read this far without nodding off eh?!

Tonight is the first of our weekly live music nights at Base Face Putney, and I'm so pleased to be bringing my Dad, Neal Thornton, down to whet it's head with a lovely piano trio featuring myself Tim Thornton on bass and Tom Hooper on drums!
We'll be playing from 7-9pm at Base Face Putney, no cover charge, great pizza, great drinks, great way to spend your Wednesday!
No stranger to live music in pizzerias, my Dad had a residency at the Soho Pizzeria on Beak Street from before I was born in the late 80s until it closed in 2011, one of the longest running residencies I've ever heard of!
I would go down and join them on stage from my early teenage years and him and his bandmates were hugely responsible for my introduction to the world of music on that smokey little stage.
We were lucky to spend the next 10 years touring the world together with the great Julian Bliss band, until COVID changed the direction of my career...

Friday night is coming.... And we want to say thank you for all of you showing up and choosing us for your Friday night treat! It means the world to see it!
The last couple of Fridays have been mental in Barnes and Putney, some advice as we approach Friday evening, if you don't want to wait for pizza, call the shop and pre-order, and come and pick your pizzas up before 6.30!
Please understand we're doing our absolute best to feed as many of you as possible, please remain kind to all our staff, please don't leave us 1* reviews for making you wait, do you really think we'd do that just to annoy you?! It's because if we were to feed you immediately, someone else who already ordered would have to wait!
Thanks in advance for your understanding, what we can assure you is that we'll make sure when you do get your pizza it'll be the best one we can possibly make!

I need some help deciding something for next month's special, Sandwich Vs. Pizza... Give me your feedback!
We've got a super fresh special coming for the arrival of the sun, I tested it as a sandwich with mortadella, stracciatella and pistacchio pesto, and as a pizza with a mozzarella base, mortadella, stracciatella and pistacchio pesto..
Personally I love it as a sandwich, it's a bit lighter given that you don't have the melted mozzarella that is on the pizza, and that also keeps it fresher, but I'm concerned that putting a sandwich on as a special will put people off ordering it as it maybe doesn't sound like a proper meal as much as a pizza does. It is exactly the same amount of dough as a pizza and toppings (minus the melted mozzarella...)
So here are your 3 options:
1. Mortazza Sandwich
2. Mortazza Pizza
3. Both! (This has the potential to annoy the chefs, beware!)
