☀️ The sunshine’s sticking around, and with the warmer weather we’ve added some lighter seasonal dishes to the menu alongside your usual favourites.

One dish we’re particularly excited about is our Lemon & Caper Stuffed Pork Fillet, served with crispy Parmentier potatoes and a fresh mint, broad bean & pea salad. Light, vibrant and full of summer flavour, while still being satisfyingly delicious.

Whether you’re joining us for a relaxed evening meal or celebrating something special, we’d love to welcome you.

🍽️ Booking is recommended, although we’ll always do our best to accommodate walk-ins where we can.

It’s Fuc...Very Hot 🔥🥵

With temperatures soaring, we’ll be offering a reduced menu this evening and tomorrow evening, along with a few other changes to the dishes available.

We’ll also be reducing our food service times to 18:00–20:00 on both evenings.

We care about our staff, and their safety will always come first — especially for our kitchen team working in already extreme heat.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience and really appreciate your understanding. There will still be plenty of delicious dishes to choose from, just a slightly smaller selection than usual.

Thank you for bearing with us while the heat does its worst! ☀️

Look at these beautiful new dishes.

Pictured is one of our new starters: Heritage Tomatoes, Burrata, Radish, Tomato Consommé & Dill Oil — light, fresh and full of summer colour.

New to the mains, we have Aubergine Caviar, Saffron Fondant Potato, Chimichurri & Neal’s Yard Goats’ Curd Croquette.

We still have table availability for tonight and tomorrow evening, so why not come and try something new while the menu is looking this good?

Perfect for a relaxed dinner, a long overdue catch-up, or just an excuse to let us do the cooking.

Booking is recommended — get your table while there’s still space.

🎉 UPDATE: THE CHIMNEYS ARE DONE! 🎉

The good news… the chimney stack works have now been completed! 🏗️

The even better news? The scaffolding is due to start coming down from Monday, so we're finally on the home straight.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been patient and understanding while we've carried out these essential works. Maintaining a 600-year-old listed building isn't always glamorous, but it's all part of preserving a little piece of history.

We can't wait to see the old girl back to her best.

Thanks for bearing with us ❤️

UPDATE

We've been closely monitoring temperatures in our kitchen over the last couple of hours and, unfortunately, we've had to make the difficult decision to close the kitchen on Thursday.

Despite our efforts to reduce service, the temperature in the kitchen is currently hovering around 40°C, and with tomorrow forecast to be even hotter, we simply don't feel it's safe to ask our team to work in those conditions.

The good news is that the pub will remain open as normal for drinks, so if you're looking to escape the heat with a cold pint, a glass of wine, or something refreshing,

Craig will be behind the bar and ready to welcome you.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hospitality is at breaking point, and VAT is a huge part of the problem.

For those of us who love dining out, meeting friends for lunch, enjoying a proper Sunday roast, or supporting our favourite local pubs, restaurants and cafés — now is the time to speak up.

A reduced VAT rate for hospitality isn’t asking for special treatment. It’s asking for a fair chance.

10% VAT for hospitality would help businesses survive, protect jobs, keep prices more manageable for customers, and allow local places to keep doing what they do best — serving their communities.

We’d urge everyone who enjoys dining out to support the call for change, and we’d love to see other local businesses adding their voice too.

Hospitality matters. Local businesses matter. A fair VAT rate matters.
