This summer, RAID Gallery is proud to present Riding West with Zafron in My Blood, a solo exhibition by Iranian-Canadian artist Sarvi Ghadim.
Born in the aftermath of Iran’s Women, Life, Freedom movement, the exhibition imagines a post-apocalyptic landscape where women have finally broken free. In these monumental oil paintings, figures emerge transformed—stripped of identity yet unbroken in spirit—moving alongside liberated animals in scenes that speak to resistance, solidarity, and renewal.
At the heart of the exhibition is the idea of sisterhood: women standing together, carrying one another forward, and imagining new futures in the face of adversity.
Sarvi’s work joins a rich tradition of Iranian women artists and storytellers who have brought deeply personal and political narratives to an international audience. Like the work of Marjane Satrapi, these paintings explore memory, identity, and freedom while refusing to reduce Iranian women to symbols of suffering alone.
