I’m just going to share this here because you folks have saved me/helped me so many times, even when I felt it was semi unprofessional to ask publicly for help/advice.
We have been looking for a new/second location for well over a year.
We’ve been close so many times, but it just hasn’t panned out in a way that makes financial sense for us.
We’ve been in this (cute and sweet) sardine can 😂 for 10 years and honestly, we outgrew it by year 5.
We are desperate to evolve and grow, to expand our menu and seating, and to provide our staff with the functional, spacious, dreamy work environment that they so deserve. Our sister shop .palmier has set a high standard for incredible cafe spaces, and we know that Red Door would absolutely THRIVE with the space, design, and basic working infrastructure that we so desperately need.
We would love to stay in our community of Beechwood, but retail options are limited, and any new major builds in the area are simply too expensive for us to invest in, nor has any developer been keen to incentivize, support or match the significant investment we’d make.
We are working with a realtor, and I’ll list our requirements in another slide.
I’m sharing this because maybe you have a friend who wants to sell their restaurant? Maybe you have been thinking about developing your commercial space, but need veteran anchor tenant? Maybe you have 2 million dollars burning a hole in your pocket, and want to invest in a building? Who knows. I’m sharing this because WHO KNOWS!
Here’s what we are looking for:
-2000-ish sq ft (this location would house both our production kitchen and retail space).
-Ideally, the space has previously operated as a restaurant and has basic operational infrastructure in place already.
-Centrally located walkable, fam friendly neighbourhood.
-A tiny bit of outdoor space.
-Bonus points if acquiring real estate is an option, though would entertain leasing.
-Community need for a brunch/bakery/coffeeshop! (Continued in comments)
