STORY TIME 💫☕️
Its been a blessing being back at the market after the fire, its great to reconnect with old face and meet many new ones too! But I figure this is a good time to reintroduced ourselves.
For many years before our farm & before kids having a coffee shop/bakery was always a dream for Chad and I. But also a scary step, for myself growing up in the food industry with my family when I was young I saw all the good, bad, struggles & wins it can bring. After a long year in 2020 of many many uncertainties, one year into learning our farm, and had 2 kids to nurture we decided it was time to take the plunge.
Fast foward to January 2021, we risked it all, bought our coffee roaster, and by March we were doing pop ups at the market. We started with a single table, a few bags of coffee and some home made donuts and were lucky to bring in $40 each market. We got on the waiting list for a permanent booth, withing a few months we got a booth! We were so happy at this point to have a little spot to call home. I then began teaching myself many new recipes to bake, and chad many new roast to fill people's cup. Just about everything we know now is all self taught, through blood, sweat and maybe a few tears. 😉
In 2022, we finally were able to move to a bigger both in the food court area, set up an espresso machine and really take things to the next level! The next 3 years we pushed and pushed, stayed consistent, built up our business and next thing I knew we had lines up around the whole damn building! This was NOT handed to us, we built this from nothing, 2 kids on my hip and a work ethic I am very proud to show off.
While our end goal will always be to have our own shop, the farmers market is where it all works for now. This is where everything was made possible for us!
After the market fire in November of 2025, our business was homeless for 6 months which was absolutely devastating.
May 2026, we got the call of hope, that we are able to reopen in the temporary location of the market which is where we are now. Finally back at it doing what we love!
I want to thank every single person that has supported us along this journey, because without you MHC would not be possible. We look foward to the days ahead serving the Grande Prairie area with some of the best coffees & high quality baking we have to offer. ❤️🥐
Sincerely the family behind MHC,
Chad, Andrea, Paxton & Adaline.
