Money may not grow on trees, but it CAN grow if you tend it well.
That’s why I sat down with Keith Gibson, a Certified Financial Advisor with IG Wealth Management (Gee Gibson & Associates), to learn how he helps clients build financial peace. In our conversation, Keith shared who can benefit most from financial planning and how the wealth management industry has evolved over the past decade.
What do you do, Keith, in a nutshell?
Keith: I give my clients financial peace of mind. I create a strategic roadmap that helps them reach their financial goals with clarity and confidence.
That sounds wonderful, especially since financial stress is such a common challenge.
Keith: Absolutely. Money, and our worries about it, are huge sources of stress. Much of that stress comes from old beliefs about money. For example, many people still think it is safest to just keep their money in the bank. Today, though, there are much smarter ways to make your money work for you. That is where I come in. I help clients create a roadmap toward a stress-free financial future.
Who is your ideal client?
Keith: I often frame that answer as a few key questions because these help the right people find me.
Are you a business owner looking to sell or wanting a professional valuation?
Have you recently inherited money?
Is generational wealth planning important to you?
Are you nearing retirement or already retired with questions about income planning?
Have you sold your home and are wondering what to do with the proceeds?
Do you have a financial or estate plan? And if so, how long has it been since it was updated?
If any of these questions sound familiar, that is usually a good sign we should talk.
How has the industry changed in recent years?
Keith: One big change is how we connect with clients. The days of cold calling are over. Today, most of my business comes through what we call soft referrals, which are introductions from friends, family, or satisfied clients. It is a more personal and relationship-based approach, which I really appreciate.
That said, money is still an intimidating subject for many people. My goal is to make financial planning accessible, simple, and empowering, and to replace stress with clarity and confidence.
With so many financial advisors out there, why should someone choose you?
Keith: It all comes down to trust, and trust is built through relationships. That takes time.
At IG Wealth, we take a unique, holistic approach to financial planning. If more people truly understood the scope of what we do every day, I think they would be lining up at our door.
Personally, I know that every decision I make is guided by one thing: my clients’ best interests. That principle is at the heart of everything I do.
