The biggest specialty coffee exhibition is coming to Brussels. To celebrate, we’re hosting a wide range of events all week in our shops and roastery.

Our cafés will be offering a special, curated menu during WOC 2026. Expect a variety of rare competition coffees on espresso, filter and milk drinks. Available all week across all our shops.

You can also visit us at the exhibition in the Roaster Village (booth RV73) or come root for our team at the World Brewers Cup (WBrC).

We took some time to reflect on our journey preparing for and competing in the Belgian Brewers Cup. What a great experience for the whole team.

It brought together every aspect of what we do: sourcing, roasting, brewing, and serving. A real opportunity to learn, sharpen our skills, and grow as a team. And throughout all of it, one thing brought us together: a shared, genuine passion for the craft.

Now we’re setting our sights on Worlds and we can’t wait to bring these coffees to you. Jay and Pedro’s competition coffees will be available in limited quantities during World of Coffee, both in the shop and online.

On to the Worlds 🏆

Our team made it to the podium at the Belgian Brewers Cup. Huge congratulations to (🥇) and Pedro (5th) and to the wider Wide Awake team. Months of training by our competitors and hundreds of hours of roasting, coaching, and support from our head roaster went into this. This one is personal to us, as it’s a testament to the work and heart we put in every day in our work behind sourcing, roasting, brewing, and serving each coffee. It’s been an incredible learning experience for the entire team. We are honored that we will be representing Belgium on the world stage at WBrC at

Jay and Pedro competed with coffees from Alejandro Rosmales () in Guatemala. During a recent sourcing trip, we cupped and bought two incredible competition lots for Jay and Pedro: one gesha from La Gran Manzana, one from La Cascada Encantada. Roasted in small batches on .

Our spring pastry offering is taking shape. When we opened our Sainte Catherine location, we quietly started working on pastry recipes. After months of trying, scrapping, tweaking, our kitchen is now churning out some very delicious (and tempting) pastries every day for each of our shops. As always supplemented by flaky pastries from our good friends

We’re getting ready to release our first ever Yemeni coffee. Grown at an incredible 2300 masl, these beans are small, dense and loaded with sugars and acids. The slow cherry ripening leads to a complex cup. Expect tropical and winey notes with spice in the back.

Want to try it? Pass by one of our shops on Friday May 1st. We will be brewing it all day long for everyone to try.

The case for resting your coffee.

Generally we recommend resting coffee for a few weeks at least. Post roast, a coffee needs time to settle in. Very fresh coffee tastes sharp, intense and unbalanced. After a few weeks of rest, the individual flavors are more pronounced. The acidity and sweetness are better balanced. The complexity and clarity are higher.

How does flavor evolve throughout the aging process? We ran an experiment to find out. Spoiler: we find our coffees taste best between 4-8 weeks after roast.
