Meet the Makers ❤️

People often ask us how Dunalley Bay Distillery began.

It all started with a chance meeting in Sydney seven years ago.

Before moving to Tasmania, our lives couldn’t have been more different. Mark spent many years leading companies as a CEO, while my career was in Sydney’s luxury property market and the world of five-star hotels and restaurants. We both loved what we did, but deep down we wanted to build something of our own—something that reflected our values and passion for hospitality.

So we took a leap of faith.

We left the city, sold our properties, and moved to Tasmania, where we knew very few people, to start again. We had never run a distillery before, but we believed that with hard work, a commitment to quality, and genuine hospitality, we could create something special.

Today, Dunalley Bay Distillery is more than just a place to enjoy handcrafted gin, whisky and rum. It’s our home, our lifestyle, and a place where we love welcoming visitors to experience the beauty of Dunalley Bay, share a story, and hopefully leave with wonderful memories.

Every journey has its season, and ours has been an incredible one.

After four wonderful years, we’re closing this chapter exactly as we hoped we would—grateful for the memories, proud of what we’ve built, and excited for what’s ahead.

We’re now simplifying our lives and looking forward to our next adventure, while continuing to welcome everyone to Dunalley Bay Distillery at our beautiful original beachfront home in Murdunna.

🌊 THE END OF AN ERA… AND THE BEGINNING OF A NEW CHAPTER 🌊.

To our wonderful customers, friends and supporters,

The property at 11 Fulham Road, home of Dunalley Bay Distillery – Eat & Drink, has been sold, and our thriving fish and chips chapter is coming to an end.

For many, this site will always be remembered as the Dunalley Fish Market. When we purchased the property four years ago, we wanted to honour its history while giving this iconic Dunalley landmark new life.

Two years ago, we relocated Dunalley Bay Distillery here from our original beachfront tasting hut on Arthur Hwy, Murdunna

We are proud to have welcomed thousands of locals and travellers and helped make Dunalley a destination worth stopping for on the way to Port Arthur. Our fish and chips business, cellar door, events and Friday night meals became more than a business—they became a place for local people to gather, connect and create memories.

A special thank you to Debby, whose dedication and friendly smile have been a cherished part of this business for the past 13 years.

While this chapter is ending, DUNALLEY BAY DISTILLERY IS NOT

This sale allows us to simplify, downsize and focus on the future towards our full retirement - another new chapter

We are delighted this historic property will begin its next chapter under the ownership of a well-known Tasmanian business, and we look forward to seeing their vision contribute to Dunalley’s future.

We’re excited to return to where it all began — our original beachfront tasting hut at 3530 Arthur Highway, Murdunna and look forward to welcoming you back for a gin, whisky or rum by the water

📅 Our final trading day at Fulham Road is planned for Friday 26 June (or earlier if we sell out).

If you’d like one last serve of fish and chips, a final drink, or simply to share a memory with us, we’d love to see you before we close this chapter.
