An Update from Fraggle Farm 💫
As Fraggle Farm continues to grow and evolve, we are always reflecting on where our time, team and resources can make the greatest and most meaningful difference to our community.
After a great deal of consideration, we have made the difficult decision to make some changes to our weekly timetable, including saying goodbye to our Monday morning homeschool session for High support needs.
This has not been an easy decision. Unfortunately, due to low numbers and inconsistent attendance, the session is no longer financially sustainable. Providing the appropriate level of support requires a significantly higher staff-to-child ratio, and without consistent attendance, we simply cannot continue to provide this safely and sustainably.
We want to be very clear that this change does not mean Fraggle Farm is moving away from supporting people with higher support needs. Quite the opposite.
One of the things we have learnt is that trying to provide everything for everyone can sometimes mean we aren't able to provide any one area of support as well as we would like.
Moving forward, we are choosing to focus our resources where we know our particular environment, team and approach can have the greatest impact.
For our school-aged homeschool community, our focus will be on social and activity-based sessions for children who are able to participate within a small group environment with a greater level of independence.
At the same time, we remain deeply committed to our high-support-needs adult social sessions. These sessions have become an incredibly important part of Fraggle Farm. For some of the adults who attend, opportunities to belong to a social group, build friendships and simply have somewhere they feel comfortable and accepted can be extremely limited. We believe strongly in protecting and continuing this support with the aim to expand.
This isn't about deciding that one group is more important than another. It is about recognising what Fraggle Farm can realistically and sustainably provide, and doing those things well.
We know that making changes can be disappointing, particularly for families directly affected, and that is something we don't take lightly. Fraggle Farm was created because we understand how difficult it can be to find places where neurodivergent people genuinely belong.
Our heart and our purpose haven't changed.
Sometimes growing with purpose means having the courage to focus on where you can make the greatest difference.
