Well, what a night!!!
This weekend with The Southside Steppers was absolutely HUGE.
You came through the doors in numbers we genuinely didn’t anticipate, danced not just on the dance floor but pretty much anywhere you could find a patch of floor, and somehow managed to eat the Cannery out of house and home.
We’d ordered enough food for TWO events. You ate it. All of it... best problem we could have.
A massive shout-out to our chefs who slammed out more than 140 pizzas, our bar crew who did not stop all night, and the rest of the Cannery team who just figured out what needed doing and got it done.
And a very special thank you to the people who weren’t even rostered, but saw what was happening, jumped in and volunteered their time to help us get through the night. We genuinely could not have pulled it off without you.
The Southside Steppers, you absolute legends! Two sets apparently weren’t enough, so you came back for an encore and gave us a third because nobody was ready for your amazingness to end.
To all of you, thank you for being patient when things got hectic, for making room for each other, dancing wherever you could find space, and taking it all in your stride.
We’re so proud of what’s happening at the Port Cygnet Cannery. Proud of our team, proud of the people who jump in when we need a hand, and incredibly grateful to the musicians and all of you who keep turning up and making the place what it is.
We reckon we’re building something special together.
