Somebody in a room of two hundred cannot eat something you are about to serve them.
Groundnuts are the one that matters most here, because they are in more dishes than people think, and a reaction at a function far from a clinic is a serious thing.
Nobody wants to be the guest who makes a fuss, so they will quietly not eat rather than tell you, and you will never find out.
One line on the invitation solves it. Let us know if you cannot eat anything. That is all it takes.
Then pass what you get to the caterer as a list, not as a memory of a conversation.
Send us anything your guests cannot eat and we will keep those plates separate.
