ZAF RECORDS ANOTHER FIRST AS FEMALE NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER COMPLETES EXPLOSIVES, ORDNANCE AND DISPOSAL TRAINING
The Zambia Air Force (ZAF) remains committed to creating an equitable gender environment to ensure that women are included and fully participate in achieving the overall mission of the Air Force.
Recording another first, a female technician on the L-15 Fighter aircraft has become the first female in ZAF to complete the Explosive Ordnance and Disposal training (EOD).
Cpl Silubanje Winnie underwent the EOD training at the Sri lanka Air Force Base, Palavi Station.
The five months training commenced on 08 July 2024 and was completed on 13 December 2024.
EOD being a male dominated field, it was not surprising that Cpl Silubanje was the only female in her class.
The classes were divided into two streams for foreign students, the Officers and Airmen and Women. The students were a blend from India, Sri lanka, Zambia and the Maldives.
The ZAF Commander, Lt Gen Oscar Nyoni congratulates Cpl Silubanje on her achievement and encourages all female personnel to take advantage of the inclusive gender environment in ZAF to pursue their dreams.
