August 19th, we celebrate World Photography Day 📸

Commemorating the day in 1839 when the French government acquired the rights to the daguerreotype process and released the details of the invention to the world.

It's all about the stock, made with salmon belly and cob, it's rich and gorgeous. Think along the lines of a Bouillabaisse but made with our recipe.

Salinas is the strong woman in our lives, she grew out of the financial crisis in 2011 and opened just as we were told of the "second dip", she has survived floods, droughts, fires and pestilence. She supports us all and gives us hope, shelter and strength. Today we celebrate her and all the women that she has grown and strengthened. Happy Women's Day.

You may wonder what the photo is about? That's the potatoes we are currently using for our chips. We don't serve imported European frozen chips we cut our own, supporting job creation and South African Farmers. Last year we proudly purchased 19, 360 kg of local potatoes.

The annual Gourmet & Gourmands was held on Sat at the Carpe Diem school. Salinas Beach Restaurant is in its 12 year of sponsorship and we take our hats off and salute the organizers and all the sponsors.

Nothing says "this is our kitchen and we are proud of it" more than this photo. Interesting fact, we have a brigade of 30 staff in the kitchen and 76% are female. This grows to over 40 staff in summer.
