It was lights, cameras and action at the official launch and handover of the new Tau restaurant & bar @ hotel 247. The prestigious, star-studded event marked a major milestone for transformation, enterprise development, and luxury hospitality in the region.

The celebration brought together key government leaders, industry pioneers, and other high-level executives to champion excellence in women-owned enterprises.

The landmark launch featured keynote addresses delivered by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ms. Maggie Sotyu, alongside esteemed representation from the police leadership. The Chief Executive Officer of the National Empowerment Fund (NEF), Mr. Mziwabantu (Mzi) Dayimani, was also in attendance to celebrate strategic financial backing and structural investment into the 100% black-female-owned establishment.

The highlight of the day featured an official plaque unveiling ceremony, commemorating the property's transformation from Forever White River into the modern, dynamic Hotel 247.

The newly revealed Tau Restaurant & Bar, alongside the hotel's upgraded facilities, stands as a testament to the power of public-private partnerships and resilient entrepreneurship.

What does investment in tourism mean for Mpumalanga?

On Friday, 18 September 2026, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ms Makhotso Sotyu, will officially launch the Hotel 247 Restaurant in White River.

The launch will also include community engagement focused on domestic tourism, safety and tourism empowerment programmes, following refurbishment supported through the Department of Tourism’s Tourism Transformation Fund, in partnership with the National Empowerment Fund.
