✨ Previous hospitality experience with suitable references will be an advantage, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
Contract Information

• One-month probation period
• Successful candidates will be offered a six-month contract

📖 THE ROYAL ARCHIVES | CHAPTER ONE
Every town has a story.
Some are written in books.

Others are written in the buildings that have stood the test of time.

For over 129 years, The Royal has welcomed travellers, celebrated milestones and quietly watched generations come and go.

When Sir Kauffman Richardson built The Royal in 1896, it quickly became known for its famous billiard room and some of the finest whisky in the region.
But before construction could even begin, there was one important condition.

The Dutch Reformed Church agreed to the hotel being built... as long as it stood in the centre of town and was never higher than the church tower.
To show his appreciation, Sir Richardson donated the church bell to the congregation.

Then, in 1910, everything changed.

The Royal lost its liquor licence after a church councillor believed his son had developed a little too much appreciation for the hotel's whisky and billiard room.
Soon afterwards, Sir Richardson sold The Royal and moved to Port Elizabeth.

For the next 85 years, these walls became home to teachers, travellers and countless memories. Local stories even tell of many farmers meeting their future wives here.

When Chris and Anet first arrived in Steytlerville, they found an old hotel that had seen better days.

But they also found something else. A feeling. A story worth continuing.
With love, vision, and years of hard work, they brought The Royal back to life.

Today, it remains a place where stories are shared, friendships are formed, and guests leave feeling like family.
