Meet the stunning Leucadendron argenteum, better known as the Silver Tree. Its name tells its story: Leucadendron comes from the Greek leukas “white” and dendron “tree”, while argenteum comes from the Latin argentum, meaning “silver”... a nod to its shimmering foliage. 🍃

But here’s the fascinating part... those silvery leaves are actually covered in millions of tiny hairs that move in response to the weather!

💧 When the air is moist, the hairs stand upright to collect moisture, giving the leaves a greener appearance.
💨 When conditions become dry or windy, the hairs lie flat to help the tree conserve water—creating the beautiful silvery sheen that makes this species so unforgettable.
